Grave or tombstone rubbing is when you reproduce the inscription on a headstone on a piece of paper. This is done by grazing a pencil, crayon, or charcoal piece across a piece of paper that’s placed on a headstone. When rubbed gently, the headstone inscription and markings are reproduced on the paper.
