Post mortem was a popular photography practice started in Victorian to preserve a picture of the recently deceased. Many times in these pictures you can spot strings, greying skin, unnatural positions, etc.

Frame is heavy silver with woodland detail engraved. Has two legs at bottom to balance photograph, and velvet blue backing
